Connecting to P Drive from iPhone or iPad

In order to access the P drive from an Apple device on a network outside of one of our offices, two apps are required. The procedure below will walk you through the process.


  1. Download 'Sonicwall Mobile Connect' from the app store (Download)
    • On an iPhone or personal iPad, use the AppleID you used when setting up your device
    • On a company iPad, please contact IT for the AppleID to use
  2. Open 'Sonicwall Mobile Connect' (It may open automatically)
    • Click 'Enable' on the popup that appears
    • Click 'Add Connection'
    • Name: Work
    • Server: remote.shanahans.com
    • Next
    • Username: YourWindowsUsername (usually first name last name initial. Eg. John Doe = johnd)
    • Password: YourWindowsPassword

    • Save
    • Turn the VPN on by moving the VPN slider to the right
    • Status should change to 'Connected'

  1. Download 'FileExplorer - File Manager for Computer and NAS' from the app store (Download
    • On an iPhone or personal iPad, use the AppleID you used when setting up your device
    • On a company iPad, please contact IT for the AppleID to use
  2. Open 'FileExplorer - File Manager for Computer and NAS
    • Click the (+) in the upper right to add a connection
    • Select 'Windows'
    • Display Name: P Drive
    • Host Name/IP: shdcrepo1
    • DNS Domain: shanahans.local
    • Path: Projects
    • Port: 445
    • Show Hidden Files: Off
    • Show Admin Shares: Off
    • Support DFS: Off
    • Username: shanahans\YourWindowsUsername
    • Password: YourWindowsPassword
    • Done
    • Save (Upper Right)

Verify that you are connected to the office by checking the status bar on your device to make sure the VPN icon is active as seen in the picture above.

You can now access Projects by clicking the 'P Drive' connection in the FileExplorer app.

When you are finished using the P Drive, please disconnect from the VPN by going back into the Sonicwall app and moving the VPN slider to the left. The Connection status will disappear and VPN icon will be removed from the Status bar of your device.
